Chuam Suspension Bridge (해상 출렁다리) Guide
The Chuam Suspension Bridge (출렁다리) is a ~72 m pedestrian bridge installed over the sea in June 2019. It links the candle rock, Grandmother Rock and the coastal trail into one walk, and is Donghae’s signature recent landmark — completing the 'view the rock from the bridge' angle.
Overview & free access
Installed in June 2019, the bridge is a pedestrian-only, free crossing. From the gently swaying sea trail you look down on Chotdaebawi and the open East Sea.
Operating hours & weather limits
The bridge may be restricted by wind, waves and weather; it can be closed in severe conditions (strong wind, heavy rain, typhoons) — check on-site notices and the forecast beforehand. Peak season brings queues, so arrive early.
Cautions
The bridge sways slightly — hold on and walk slowly; don’t run or shake it. Children and the elderly should hold a companion’s hand. Never lean over or climb the railings.
